Mie Godhog

Hello! I'm Rizky Darmawan. You can call me Rizky. I love to eat and I live in Pleret, Bantul. In the first post in IndoliciousFoody I want to bring you in to feeling the taste of mie godhog. Yummy. One of my favourite foods!

There is a place that sells mie godhog near where I live, called "Bakmi Jawa". I often order mie godhog here. This warung (small restaurant) is quite new and located at KM 9 Imogiri Timur street. Let's go!

Some foods you can chose
There are some foods that you can buy here : nasi goreng (fried rice), bakmie goreng (fried noodle), nasi godhog (boiled rice), magelangan (mixed fried rice and noodles), etc. You can request the food to be spicy if you want. They will cook the food after you order it, so the food is fresh. But you may wait quite a while if there are a lot of people buying.

Mie godhog has some vegetables including cabbage, tomatto, leek, and celery. There is also sliced chili if you request it spicy. So it's healthy, don't worry about the nutrition. Many people from Indonesia like spicy food *fyi*.

I'll explain a small description about mie godhog: Mie godhog or bakmie godhog is one of traditional foods from Jogja. This food is made from noodle with organic chicken/ayam kampung and egg. Bakmie godhog is closely related to ayam kampung. Bakmie means noodle and godhog means boiled. You can guess what bakmie godhog means, right? Haha. It means boiled noodles (literally).

A room without chairs
The size of this warung "Bakmi Jawa" is appoximately 9x4 m. There are 3 long tables and 5 short tabbles. The warung is rarely crowded, though. There is another warung that has a lot lot more consumers in the north (about 500 m) from this warung called "Cak Gundul" (if I'm not mistaken) but you can wait so long there.

Some characteristics from many warung mie godhog is that the chicken are hanged in the gerobak (cart), the cook cooks the food using an anglo (traditional stove with arang/dry wood as fuel), and some also use hand-held fan; others use electric fan. Yup.

Mie godhog is sprinkled by raw sliced celery, fried onion, and pepper after it's cooked (exactly before served) in this warung. And it's served with acar sauce (it tastes sour) with unsliced green chili in different plate and another a bunch of green chili (without acar sauce) on the table. You don't have to worry about running out of chili here. Hehe.

There are two kinds of noodles in one mie godhog: first called mie telor and second called mie bihun. The shape of mie telor is curly but mie bihun is straight and thinner. Both feels smooth when they're biten. Hmm. The noodle is short, maybe because it was cut when it's cooked.

The chicken broth from the sauce tastes bold and the cabbage's texture is crunchy in the mouth. Delicious. The noodles feels smooth and the chicken too. Even without sliced chili it's still taste quite hot because of the pepper. I love the sauce. But sometimes I have to put pinch of salt because the food is less salty. Oh, well...

There are kerupuk/crackers in this warung on the table. And btw maybe you'll find some sliced chicken skins in the mie godhog. The skins feels so chewy on my mouth. What?

A bundle of eggs
Nice to eat the food when the weather is cold. The food is so hot, especially the sliced tomatto. The pepper makes my throat feels warm. It's not strange why people like to eat mie godhog in the night (when the weather is cloudy). This warung open from afternoon untill 01:00 or 02:00 am.

The cost of the mie godhog is 12.000 IDR and the hot tea is 3.000 IDR. It's quite cheap because the portion of the food is quite big and there are so much ayam kampung in the food. And it's quite cheap because it's sells in Bantul (Jogja). Yiha!

So, thanks for reading my first post in IndoliciousFoody. I want to know about your opinion about this food or article in the comment section bellow. You could follow my blog if you don't mind :). Thanks a lot and see you later!
