Pempek Palembang Mang Pari 19 Ilir
Welcome to IndoliciousFoody! Yesterday in the afternoon I went to Pempek Palembang Mang Pari 19 ilir at Tamansiswa street, Yogyakarta, with my wife. Just like the name, this restaurant has traditional food from Palembang (South Sumatera).
When I almot arrived to the restaurant (in front of it), I was almost hitten by a motorcycle that went againts the street direction. Well...
Anyway, the place is quite hot (even there are 8 fans in the costumers area). It's because the roof are tin roof.
There'are a lot of pempek restaurants arround Indonesia (pempek is quite popular here). The batter of pempek usually use grilled mackerel or shrimp. Btw I ordered tekwan and my wife ordered pempek kapal selam.
Tekwan has sliced leek, bihun/angel hair (it's quite short), medium raw bengkoang (the texture is like apple but tastes plain and more crunchy), tengiri, and fried onion. The side dish itself called tekwan.
My wife was told by her mother that the ingredients of tekwan soup are : garlic, onion, pepper, salt, and sugar (or maybe some flavors in the warung).
The tekwan tastes so good and smooth. The soup tastes like the soup from bakso; so is the sambal. You can taste the mackerel in it. The bihun makes the texture richer.

Pempek kapal selam |
We ordered plain hot tea and hot orange juice. The plain hot tea smells sweet and the hot orange juice tastes good. I tried both of them :|
There's just one room for customers and 28 tables (every tables can fit 4 people) : 6 tables with 4 chairs for every tables and the rest are without chairs (customers seat on the place that's heightened).
From my point of view, I think the tekwan is more delicious than the pempek kapal selam; even though the pempek is a little bit more expensive. You can try by yourself, guys.
The Tekwan price is 13.000 IDR and the pempek kapal selam is 15.000 IDR. The plain hot tea price is 1.000 IDR and the hot orange juice is 4.000 IDR. Btw the warung opens about 10:30 am untill 11:00 pm.
Have you ever heard or eaten pempek before? Tell me on the comment section bellow. Thanks for coming in IndoliciousFoody and wait for the next posts, guys!
